There's a lot to be excited about when it comes to Samsung's newly-unveiled Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra. There's the nifty software improvements, the new camera features and, for Australians especially, the high-performance possibilities of the new Snapdragon Gen 1 processor powering each new device.

However, the one thing that's not especially exciting is the price.

With the basic Samsung Galaxy S22 starting at $1,249, it's far from the most affordable Android option on the market. Even if Samsung haven't raised prices this time around, that's still a lot of money.

Check out the table below for a breakdown of the recommended retail pricing for the new devices.

Galaxy S22
Galaxy S22+
Galaxy S22 Ultra
128 GB$1,249$1,549$1,849
256 GB$1,349$1,649$1,999
512 GBN/AN/A$2,149
1 TBN/AN/A$2,449

Given the cost, many might find it makes more sense to pick up Samsung's latest gadgets on a plan rather than paying outright. Thankfully, if that's you, then you've got plenty of options to choose from.

The Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra are all available to pre-order through all three major Australian carriers, plus a few other others like Woolworths Mobile.

Samsung Galaxy S22 plans

In Australia, the Samsung Galaxy S22 is available on a plan through Telstra, Vodafone and Optus.

Samsung Galaxy S22 (128 GB) plans

If you're looking at the 128 GB version of the Samsung Galaxy S22, chances are you're looking to pick the device up for as little as possible.

For comparison, getting a Galaxy S22 through the cheapest plan from Optus, the $45 Optus Choice Plus Plan, will cost you either $79.69/month over 36-months or $97.04/month over 24-months.

Telstra's cheapest option, the $55 Small Upfront Mobile Plan, is even more expensive. Paired up with the Galaxy S22, you're looking at either $89.69/month over 36-months or $107.04/month over 24-months.

Vodafone's $40 Lite Plan ends up being one of the more frugal options on the table here. Paired up with the cheapest version of Samsung's Galaxy S22, this plan will run you either $74.69/month over 36-months or $92.04/month over 24-months.

Samsung Galaxy S22 (256 GB) plans

Price-wise, the mobile plans available for the 256 GB version of the Samsung Galaxy S22 are only a few dollars more expensive than their 128 GB counterparts. With that in mind, it might worth thinking about bumping your pre-order up to the model with extra storage.

The table below conveys the rough-price difference between the two for the cheap plans mentioned above.

24-months (128 GB)
24-months (256 GB)
36-months (128 GB)
36-months (256 GB)
$25 Woolworths Mobile $66.62$70.78$52.74$55.52
Optus $45 Choice Plus Plan$97.04$101.20$79.69$82.47
Telstra $55 Small Upfront Mobile Plan$107.04$111.20$89.69$92.47
Vodafone $40 Lite Plan$92.04$96.20$74.69$77.47

Samsung Galaxy S22+ plans

In Australia, the Samsung Galaxy S22+ is available on a plan through Telstra, Vodafone, Optus and Woolworths Mobile.

That last one offers connectivity via the Telstra network, but it doesn't include access to Telstra's 5G network. In order to make use of the 5G capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy S22+, you'll have to rely on one of the other options.

Samsung Galaxy S22+ (128 GB) plans

If you're looking to as cheap as possible and don't mind making do with 20 GB of data per month, the Woolworths Mobile $25 plan is probably going to be your best bet. This option will costs $61.07/month under a 36-month plan or $79.12/month as a 24-month plan.

The next best option here is going to be the Vodafone $40 Lite Plan. This mobile plan includes 40GB of data, plus unlimited national calls and text. Paired up with a Samsung Galaxy S22+, you're looking at either $83.02/month for 36 months or $104.54/month for 24-months.

Samsung Galaxy S22

Samsung Galaxy S22+ (256 GB) plans

If you're an Optus customer looking for a plan that lets you make the most of the version of the Samsung Galaxy S22+ that comes with a bit more storage, the $115 Optus Plus Promo Plan is currently in the midst of a major discount.

This plan gets you a whopping 500 GB of data to use each month, and for the first twelve months you stay with Optus, you'll pay just $65/month plus handset repayment costs. You will have to pay off or change your plan to a cheaper one after that period in order to avoid being slugged at a higher rate, but it's a small inconvenience for twelve months of this much data.

Paired up with a 256GB Samsung Galaxy S22+ that works out to either $110.80/month for 36-months or $133.70/month for 24-months.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra plans

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung's latest photography powerhouse, is available on a plan through Telstra, Vodafone, Optus and Woolworths Mobile.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (128 GB) plans

If you're looking to pick up the most expensive option in the Samsung Galaxy S22 lineup for as little as possible, Woolworths Mobile's $25/month option remains hard to beat. You're going to be stuck with 20GB a month, but the savings here are considerable. You're looking at $69.41/month on a 36-month plan or $91.62/month on a 24-month plan.

Of course, if you're willing to go for the latter, you might as well go for Vodafone's $40 Lite plan instead. This one comes with 40 GB of data rather than 20 GB, and it costs almost the exact same amount. Broken out over 36-months and paired up with a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, the Vodafone $40 Lite plan works out to $91.36/month.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (256 GB) plans

If you're buying a high-end device like the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra because you want to make the most of Australia's growing 5G networks, the Optus $115 Plus Promo plan remains the best option.

This plan gets you a whopping 500 GB of data to use each month, and for the first twelve months you stay with Optus, you'll pay just $65/month plus handset repayment costs. Paired up with a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra with 256 GB of storage, you're looking at $154.54/month over 24-months.

If you'd like to spend a little less, then the Optus $55 Choice Plus Plan might be the way to go.

This plan gets you 80 GB of data and full access to the Optus 5G network wherever coverage can be found. Paired up with a brand new Galaxy S22 Ultra with 256 GB of storage, this plan costs either $114.69/month for 36-months or $144.54/month for 24-months.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (512 GB) plans

There's no getting around the fact that the 512 GB version of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra ain't cheap. However, it can be a little bit cheaper with the right plan.

While the Woolworths Mobile $25 Plan and Woolworths Mobile $35 Plan remain great choices for those want to squeeze as much out of their budget as they can, the lower data caps might feel stifling for the kind of power users that the Samsung Galaxy S22 is designed to attract.

One of the better options here is the $55 Vodafone Super Plan. As part of a promotion that runs until the end of March, this plan includes an extra 140GB of data. That works out to a total of 200 GB of data per month for either $109.69/month over 36-months or $139.54/month over 24-months.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (1 TB) plans

At the time of writing, the 1 TB variant of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is exclusive to the Samsung eStore and not available on a plan.

Check out the widget below for a round up of popular SIM-only plans that you might be able to pair with the pricey device.
