Stan and Netflix might add more titles than Amazon Prime Video on a monthly basis, but Prime Video prioritises quality over quantity. Take its January 2021 schedule for example. Prime Video Australia is only getting eleven new titles in total but amongst those releases you'll find Season 6 of the incredibly popular detective drama Bosch, the latest Stephen King adaptation The Stand, Season 4 of the schmaltzy drama This Is Us, and the third season of Prime's stylish American Gods adaptation.
Trekkies will also be happy to know that the animated comedy Star Trek: Lower Decks has escaped the Australian SVOD black hole and will be docking on Prime Video on 22 January too.
As for movies, there's the highly-anticipated One Night In Miami. This Amazon Original from Regina King (Watchmen) offers a fictionalised account of the real-life night shared between activist Malcolm X, boxing legend Cassius Clay, NFL superstar Jim Brown, and crooner Sam Cooke (played by Hamilton's Leslie Odom Jr.) after Clay's victory against Sonny Liston in February 1984.
Prime Video is also getting the surprisingly solid The Rental, an Airbnb horror story from Dave Franco. Sidenote: horror fans should also check out what's streaming on streaming service Shudder this month.
Here's the complete list of TV shows and movies coming to Prime Video Australia in January 2021.
