How to stream every ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2024 match
Wait. This can’t be right. Wasn’t there a Cricket World Cup last year? There sure was! But that was one-day cricket. If you don’t have a spare eight hours and prefer your cricket in faster doses, the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2024 may be for you. The best part: while it’s being played in the West Indies and the USA, a bunch of matches are being played at somewhat reasonable hours.
Here’s everything you need to know about the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2024.
Where to stream the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2024
You’ll need an Amazon Prime Video subscription to stream all 55 matches of the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2024. While most cricket, including Australian matches, is typically found on Foxtel Now or Kayo Sports, Prime has snagged the Australian broadcasting rights for every ICC event from 2024 to 2027. Unfortunately, there is no free-to-air way to watch any T20 World Cup matches, not even the Aussie ones.
If Prime is anything like the usual approach, expect pre-match coverage to kick off around half an hour before the first ball is bowled. The tournament format involves four groups of five teams battling it out in a round-robin to nab the top two spots. It’s two points for a win and one point apiece for no result. Ties are settled with super overs. Here are the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2024 groups:
- Group A: India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, United States of America
- Group B: England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, Oman
- Group C: New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda, Papua New Guinea
- Group D: South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Nepal
Those top two teams from each group battle it out in two groups for the Super Eight. Initial team seeding from the group stages are retained for the Super Eight, so long as they qualify. For example, Australia is in Group B, which has England in first seeding and Australia in second. Assuming both teams make it through to the Super Eight—and they should, given the other teams in their group—even if Australia comes out on top of the group, it would still stay in second spot for the Super Eight. Confusing, right?
The catch is if there are any tournament upsets—and the ICC big-stage events are no stranger to these in recent years—any unseeded teams that make it to the Super Eight, they take the seed of the top-seeded team they effectively eliminated. The two groups of four teams in the Super Eight play three matches, then the top two teams from each group make it through to the semifinals and, potentially, beyond to the final.
