Indie streaming service Dropout has pointed the finger in Sony's direction as part of an update on its ongoing efforts to launch an app for the Playstation Store.

In a post on social media directed at fans asking for a status update on the streamer's intentions to come to the Playstation, the streamer confirmed that it was in the process of working with a team of developers to build an app for the console. However, making that application may end up being the easier half of the process.

According to Dropout, "Playstation has unfortunately rejected our application to host an app in the Playstation Store. We've been told we could potentially re-apply for consideration at the end of this year, but there are no guarantees."
"This has been an unexpected process. We give kudos to Sony Playstation for being very selective about what apps and brands they have on their platforms, but we really hope they'll reconsider," it said.

Despite this, Dropout said that it plans to continue working away on the app in the hopes that Sony will change its mind. It asked for patience and understanding from subscribers in the meantime.

While Dropout is a smaller streaming service than the likes of Netflix or Disney Plus, it is a shame to see its potential to find a larger audience get waylaid by a larger platform holder. We here at Reviews.org are on the record as huge fans of Dropout original series like Game Changer, Total Forgiveness and Smartypants.

If you've never heard of Dropout before, you can find a highlight reel covering some of what to expect from the streaming service via the video embedded below.

In Australia, you can sign up for Dropout via the official website and YouTube for as little as $5.99 per month.
