Another streaming service has punted its free trial. As of the 26th of September, Foxtel's sport streaming app Kayo will no longer offer a seven-day free trial to new customers signing up for one of its three plans. This won't impact existing users, who are already paying month-to-month but new users will now be charged a minimum of $25 from the first day they sign up once the free trial is removed.

In removing its free trial, Kayo will join the ranks of streaming heavyweights Netflix and Disney Plus, both which removed their own free trial offers some time ago. Hopefully Netflix's influence only spreads so far. We've already seen Binge introduce ads and Disney Plus is looking to follow Netflix's lead by blocking password sharing

How much does Kayo Sport cost?

There are three paid Kayo Sport plans: Kayo One, Kayo Basic and Kayo Premium. Unlike other streaming services, Kayo's offers are refreshingly straightforward. All three plans come with the exact same features and stream in the same quality, the only difference is the number of devices you can stream on at once.

Kayo One, as the name suggests, lets you stream on one device, Kayo Basic lets you stream on two and Kayo Premium lets you stream on three. Here's how much each Kayo plan costs compared with other Australian sports streaming services:

How can I get free Kayo?

If you're mourning the loss of Kayo's free trial, there's still hope for you yet. The streaming service will still offer Kayo Freebies. This is in essence a free version of the Kayo streaming platform that offers all the advanced features, like HD streaming, SplitView and live stats, but offers a limited selection of free sports. You can find free NRL matches, free AFL, and NBL, as well as the WSL (World Surfing League) on Kayo Freebies. Not every match or event will be streamed for free but there's a decent selection available.
