Foxtel's sidekick Kayo Sports will finally offer Australian sports fans 4K Ultra High Definition sports streams in 2024. But it will come at a cost... kind of.
Just a few months after Foxtel's other streaming service Binge added 4K streaming (and increased plan prices,) Kayo will begin rolling out 4K across all compatible devices from the 29th of February 2024. Things aren't quite as straightforward for Kayo customers, however.
Rather than adding 4K to the existing $35 Premium tier (which offered streaming on three devices,) Kayo is removing the Premium tier altogether. Instead, Basic customers (who can stream on two devices,) will get 4K streaming, but the Basic plan will go from $30 per month to $35 per month. So Basic is sort of the new Premium.
Kayo One customers will continue to pay $25 per month for HD streaming on one device.
Kayo One and Kayo Basic customers can both give the service a whirl for seven days without paying a cent thanks to Kayo's free trial for new customers.
It's not exactly clear what will happen to existing Basic and Premium customers come March 2024 but we've reached out to Kayo for further clarification.
