A lot of popular sports are an acquired taste. cricket? Too boring. rugby? Too complicated. AFL? Too messy. If you fancy your sports presented in a way that’s intended to always entertain, you may be partial to extreme sports. And the best bit is you don’t really need a subscription to one of the best sports streaming services to enjoy extreme sports.

Watch extreme sports online in Australia

Catch extreme sports with 7plus, Red Bull TV and YouTube.

There are a handful of options for streaming extreme sports in Australia, but the great news is most don’t cost a cent. For starters, there’s a selection of extreme sports—live streams and highlights—available for streaming on 7plus. Create a free account to get streaming.

Next up is Red Bull TV, which is effectively a 24/7 channel with curated extreme sports content. You can sign up for a Red Bull account, but that’s not essential to get streaming via browser or the Red Bull TV app. That app is supported on a wide range of platforms, including mobile, Chromecast, set-top boxes and gaming consoles.

Red Bull TV is also streaming as part of a DAZN subscription. That costs money, though. For DAZN, you’re looking at a $13.99 monthly fee for ad-hoc pricing, $7.99 per month if you commit for a year, or $74.99 if you pay for a year upfront. The other alternative for free extreme sports streaming in Australia is via the official X Games YouTube channel.

Watch the Summer, Spring and Winter X Games in Australia

Multiple times a year, there’s an extreme sports event called X Games. The Summer X Games are slated to happen in California in July, with multiple events across skateboarding, BMX and motocross. Tune into the aforementioned official X Games YouTube channel for live events, replays and highlights.

Alternatively, stream 50+ hours of events on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC while connected to a US virtual private network (VPN) server. Hulu is one example of a US streaming service that has a live add-on, which allows users to stream this type of content. Below is a list of VPNs that I’ve tested with fast streaming results on Hulu:

It’s the same story for the Spring X Games and Winter X Games: check out the X Games YouTube channel or use a VPN to access live streaming of US content via an eligible live service like Hulu.
