Where to watch Jackass Forever in Australia

Physical comedy is a lost art in an age where a lot of contemporary comedy comes across like ad-libbed dialogue. Then along comes Jackass Forever to show that not only is physical comedy still a very effective way to get laughs, it proves that people still like to laugh at pain. A lot. The latest version from the long-retired Jackass crew is Jackass Forever and, as is the trend with the other Jackass sequels, there’s also an alternative version to watch if you don’t get enough schadenfreude joy from the main course.

There are two options for streaming Jackass Forever in Australia. Because it’s a Paramount Pictures flick, we’ll give first billing to Paramount Plus. There’s a seven-day trial for new Paramount Plus users, otherwise it costs $9.99 a month.

Alternatively, Jackass Forever was also streaming on Binge at the time of writing. New sign-ups can try Binge for free for 7 days, otherwise there are three plan options, all of which offer HD streaming. Binge Basic costs $10 for one ad-supported stream. Binge Standard costs $19 a month for two simultaneous streams and has no ads. And Binge Premium costs $22 a month for four streams (with no ads).

No, that’s not a joke. As is the case with Jackass 2 and Jackass 3D, there was so much extra footage and cut segments that there was enough to create an entire extra movie. Jackass 4.5 is that for Jackass Forever, and it was only available to stream Netflix at the time of writing. There isn’t a free trial for Netflix, but here are the different subscription options:

• Netflix Basic (no ads): $10.99 per month for one stream (up to 720p).

Jackass Forever hit cinemas in Australia on the 3rd of February, 2022. On the 22nd of September, 2022, Jackass Forever started streaming on Paramount Plus, and a day later it was available on Binge. Jackass 4.5 has been available on Netflix since the 20th of May, 2022.

Jackass Forever is the fourth main instalment in the TV show turned film series. It doesn’t really have a story. Instead, it involves a series of daredevil and don’t-try-at-home stunts designed to be as painful as they are funny. The result is usually a lot of hurt for the old and new cast members. Returning original Jackass stars include Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Dave England, Wee Man, Danger Ehren, Chris Pontius and Preston Lacy.

Paramount Plus might be overlooked as a streaming platform, but there are definitely some gems in there that are at the very least worth the seven-day free trial. You can catch up on loads of Channel 10 content like The Bachelor and Survivor (hello on-demand Jonathan LaPaglia), locally made TV series like Five Bedrooms and Spreadsheet, and live comedy performances from the likes of Celia Pacquola, Matt Okine, Anne Edmonds and Geraldine Hickey.

There are also some promising up-and-coming originals, such as Ziwe, Yellowjackets, 1883 (the Yellowstone prequel), The Offer, Halo and plenty of ways for Trekkies to go boldly where no streaming service has gone before. It’s also home to Twin Peaks and Daria, which will be enough to net subscriptions from at least two huge cult fanbases.

Like other niche services on this list, the value of Paramount Plus is only muddied by the fact that, outside of the originals, you can stream most of its content on free-to-air or other streaming services.
