Released in 2024, the miniseries Masters of the Air has two major draws: the cast and the money behind the scenes. The cast is impressive for obvious reasons; a squad of Hollywood's most sought-after names of recent years. Elvis and Dune: Part Two's Austin Butler, Saltburn's Barry Keoghan, Green Room's Callum Turner and even the latest Doctor (Who), Ncuti Gatwa. The money behind the scenes is less obvious. Being produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg and co-written by John Orloff, Masters of Air is considered a piece with beloved HBO war dramas Band of Brothers and The Pacific (both available on Binge.) And to be fair, that's not just lip service; there's enough talent on and behind the screen to make Master of Air feel like part of the family. That's maybe most obvious in the epic score, courtesy of Blake Neely (The Pacific.)

Whether it's officially a spiritual successor to Band of Brothers and The Pacific or not, fans of the aforementioned historical dramas are the prime target for this Apple TV Plus exclusive.

How to watch Masters of the Air online in Australia

Masters of the Air is an Apple exclusive

The Masters of the Air miniseries is an Apple TV Plus Original and therefore exclusive to the streaming service for the foreseeable future. That means that, digitally at least, Apple TV Plus is the only way you can possibly stream Masters of the Air online. Apple TV Plus is a fairly simple pitch: $12.99 per month for 4K streaming on six devices (via Apple's Family Sharing.) It's a month-to-month arrangement and comes with a 7-day free trial (plenty of time to watch Masters of Air if that's all you're after.)

What is Masters of the Air about?

War. War never changes.

The third piece to the Hanks x Spielberg World War II collab, Masters of the Air follows the exploits of the 100th Bomb Group; a squad of pilots tasked with a series of risky airborne missions across a Nazi-occupied Europe. As with Band of Brothers and The Pacific, the action is raw and unflinching but the heart of the story lies with the bonds forged between the young soldiers who tragically put their lives on the line throughout the long-running global conflict.

All nine episodes of the single-season miniseries are streaming on Apple TV Plus.
