Just mere months after returning after a four year hiatus for its third season, Donald Glover’s subversive comedy Atlanta is returning for another go around the bend.

If the reception to the third season earlier this year is any indicator, Atlanta hasn’t lost any of its breezy charm or critical bite in the years since its debut and there's a lot of room for last-minute surprises as the series approaches its endgame.

Aussies looking forward to the rest of the new season of Atlanta have a few streaming options when it comes to where and how they want to watch it. Here’s what you need to know.

How to watch Atlanta in Australia

Aussies looking to steam the new season of Atlanta will be able to do so for free via SBS On Demand.

The ad-supported streaming service currently offers all three seasons via the SBS On Demand app, with episodes of the fourth season set to be fast-tracked from the United States from the 16th of September.

Those looking to refresh themselves or catch up before diving into the new season can also find the first two seasons of Atlanta on Binge and Foxtel Now.

The exact terms of SBS On Demand’s exclusivity deal on Atlanta are unknown, so it’s possible that the newer seasons of the series will become available on other streaming services later down the line. We'll have to wait and see.

Atlanta’s fourth season is set to kick off with a double episode on the 16th of September, 2022. After that, new episodes will drop weekly with the final episode airing on the 11th of November in Australia.

On top of the steaming options listed above, there is one other (legal) way to watch the new season of Atlanta in Australia. Assuming that the distribution agreements in place for the third season still stand, Aussies should be able to rent and buy the new season of Atlanta digitally via the Apple TV and Google Play store.

If you’re looking to shop via the former, you’re looking at $AU24.99 for access to the entire season or $3.99 per episode as it comes out.

SBS On Demand review

SBS On Demand is a not-at-all demanding place to find some quality on-demand TV and movie viewing options.

It’ll cost you the same amount if you’d prefer to get your digital copy of the series via Google’s video streaming apparatus, though you can save money by dropping things down to 720p and paying just $21.99 for the season pass.

Another way to cut down on costs here is to buy episodes individually through the Microsoft Store, as it is slightly cheaper than its counterparts. That said, given that the new season is expected to run for ten episodes, those looking for the best value option are typically better off buying the season pass rather than paying piecemeal.

What is Atlanta about?

Created and starring Donald Glover, Atlanta is an American comedy series that follows Earn Marks (Donald Glover), who convinces his rapper cousin Alfred (Brian Tyree Henry) to hire him as his manager.

Together with their friend Darius (Lakieth Stanfield) and ex-partner Van (Zazie Beetz), the quartet attempt to get paid and make it big while navigating the surreal realities of racism in America.
