Produced by Showtime, The Curse is shaping up to be 2023's most chaotic streaming original series. Bringing together Fielder fans, Stone stans and Safdie sickos is a bizarre combination on paper and the reality looks to be no less strange.

The first episode of The Curse is less than a month away. That's the good news. The bad news is that it's coming to a streaming service that you probably aren't already signed up for. Here's the rundown.

Australians looking to stream The Curse will be able to find it available via Paramount Plus when it premieres later this year.

At the time of writing, there are no other (legal) ways to stream and watch the series. Fortunately, Paramount Plus offers a 7-day free trial. That gives you plenty of time to tune into and check out the first episode The Curse and see if it's something you'll want to stick around to see it through.

Of course, The Curse is far from the only original series that Paramount Plus has to offer. There are also streaming originals like Yellowjackets and Ziwe in the mix, plus kid-friendly content like Spongebob Squarepants and Paw Patrol.

When does The Curse release in Australia?

The first episode of The Curse is due to drop on November 10 2023. New episodes will drop each week after that, with the series set to run for ten episodes in total.

What is The Curse about?

Created by Nathan Fielder and Ben Safdie, The Curse is a comedy that centers on a newly-married couple (Fielder and Emma Stone) dealing with unexpected (and possibly supernatural) setbacks on the set of a home improvement show.

As put by the official synopsis for the series:

"The Curse is a genre-bending series that explores how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple as they try to conceive a child while co-starring in their new home-improvement show."

What is Paramount Plus?

Paramount Plus might be overlooked as a streaming platform, but there are definitely some gems in there that are at the very least worth the 7-day free trial. You can catch up on loads of Channel 10 content like The Bachelor and Survivor (hello on-demand Jonathan LaPaglia), locally-made TV series like Five Bedrooms and Spreadsheet and live comedy performances from the likes of Celia Pacquola, Matt Okine, Anne Edmonds and Geraldine Hickey.

There are also some promising up-and-coming originals, such as Ziwe, Yellowjackets, 1883 (the Yellowstone prequel), The Offer, Halo and plenty of ways for Trekkies to go boldly where no streaming service has gone before. It's also home to Twin Peaks and Daria, which will be enough to net subscriptions from at least two huge cult fanbases.

Like other niche services on this list, the value of Paramount Plus is only muddied by the fact that, outside of the originals, you can stream most of its content on free-to-air or other streaming services.
