Mate lets new sign-ups save money by using a BYO NBN-compatible router or modem-router. Optionally, you can also buy a TP-Link VX230v from Mate. This dual-band modem-router offers 1800Mbps of wireless speeds alongside three gigabit Ethernet ports and a single USB 2.0 port. If you go for a home phone bundle, the VX230v is also VoIP compatible.

How to switch to Mate NBN

Transferring from one NBN provider to a Mate internet plan is a straightforward process. Here’s how to switch to Mate NBN:

  1. Select the Mate NBN plan you like most and click the ‘Go to site’ button next to it. If you see ‘Link not supplied’, head to the Mate website.
  2. On the Mate NBN plans page, enter your address to confirm plan eligibility.
  3. Optionally, select a mobile or home phone package, then click on the NBN plan you want to confirm selection.
  4. Click on the ‘sign-up now’ button, then follow the prompts to complete sign-up. Select to add a modem-router to your plan if you’d like a preconfigured one.

During sign-up, Mate lets you choose to delay connection, which is handy if you’re moving to a new home.
