A range of Daikin ducted air conditioners may pose serious risk to technicians due to a wiring fault.
According to a product recall published by the ACCC, the wiring harness in the indoor fan deck of a handful of models was assembled in reverse. Although this causes no problem to consumers, technicians servicing the affected models are at risk of serious injury or even death from an electric shock.
39 models sold between September 29, 2017 and February 15, 2024 across may hold the fault. Consumers can check the model number of their air conditioner by looking at the number beginning with ‘F’ on the rating plate of the outdoor unit. If that number appears on the model number list, consumers can contact Daikin for assistance.

Generally the air conditioner manufacturer has a good track record, with only one other recall listed on the books from January 2007. At this time the electrical tracking in some outdoor units was overheating, causing a fire risk.
