Let's be real here, the words ‘cheap’ and ‘Dyson Airwrap’ don’t go together. Ordinarily retailing for $849, you pay a high price to get the OG air-powered hair styler, still there are some ways to whittle down that price.

Refurbished Dyson Airwraps
Like tablets and phones, the Dyson Airwrap has a refurbished market that can drastically cut the cost of the device. In some cases Airwraps can be as much as $350 cheaper on the refurbed market. The catch with all refurbished devices however, is that they’ve been used before. Some may have cosmetic damage like scratches or discoloration, while others may have had hardware problems and were returned.
No matter what, refurbished devices go through a bunch of repairs, testing and checks to be good-as-new before being sold again at a discount. With the Airwrap specifically, every refurbished model is repaired using genuine Dyson parts, by Dyson-certified technicians. While many of them are sold through the Catch marketplace, every purchase and delivery goes directly through Dyson Australia, and comes with a 12-month warranty. If you’re looking to save some money but still get the Dyson guarantee, a certified refurbished Airwrap is the way to go.
After the certifications have been done, every refurbished product is given a Grade from A through to C. The further down the alphabet you go, the more wear and tear the product has gone through, and the cheaper the overall price. For Grade A refurbs, the devices are in near mint condition but may have some slight blemishes like marks on the buttons. Grade B is once again in great condition, but could have some light scratches or scuffs, and Grade C is likely to have noticeable cosmetic issues when compared to better grades. From a technical standpoint however, every one of these devices should work as intended.
Dyson Trade-ins
Although they’re not always on, Dyson sometimes has trade in deals that can result in big discounts on certain products. Previously customers have been able to trade in any hair styler for a significant credit towards the Dyson Airwrap. Even your cheapest Kmart hair dryer was worth $150 off the Airwrap Complete Long set at one point in time. At the time of writing however, the manufacturer has discontinued its Airwrap trade-in deal, but that's not to say that it won’t pop up again.
The easiest way to keep track of whether Dyson has any trade-in deals running is to regularly check the ‘deals’ section on site. Or, you could come back to Reviews.org/au and keep up with our news - I promise to let you know if another deal comes around.
Try a dupe
Hi, it’s me, Captain Obvious. I’m sure you’ve already considered getting an Airwrap dupe. I have an Airwrap, and even I have considered getting a copycat - the influencers really do be influencing. Still though there is only so much you can reduce the price of the Airwrap proper, and if these deals are still out of your budget it is worth exploring your options.
The Shark FlexStyle is by far the most popular Airwrap alternative, but other manufacturers are popping up all over the place. Here are a handful of similar, but legally distinct Airwrap alternatives.
