In August Dyson announced its new Airwrap i.d. - the latest styling iteration complete with Bluetooth and a companion app. At the time of the announcement there was no set release date or price, but Dyson has now confirmed the device is available in Australia for $849. Although this is still one of (if not the) most expensive hair stylers available on the market, the latest version is no dearer than the Airwrap Complete Long styling set.

Coming off the back of feedback that users struggle to get the air styler’s curls to hold, the i.d. is Dyson’s first connected beauty appliance that will automate styling based on a personal profile.

Using the i.d. curl feature, the Airwrap uses its companion app to connect to a users’ phone and automate a personalised curling sequence for better hold. Each sequence takes into account the user' hair profile including hair type, length and how profficient the user is with the device. From here it utilises a three step, colour coded system via the MyDyson app which cycles through the duration required for curling, holding, and cooling down the curl.

Building on the already large collection of attachments, the latest Airwrap has a total of 19 available attachments, although two of these won't be available until 2025. Apart from the usual collection of brushes and curling wands, there are three new attachments including the Wave+Curl diffuser, the Blade Concentrator, and the Conical Barrel. The Conical barrel is similar to the other multi-directional barrels available with the Airwrap, except it tapers off towards the tip to allow better styling close to the root. The Blade Concentrator is a sharper version of the usual styling concentrator which uses two parallel air jets to deliver a smoother finish. Both the the Wave + Curl diffuser introduced with the Nural Supersonic, and Blade Concentrator are coming next year.

At purchase, each styling set comes with six attachments with others available to purchase seperately. The Airwrap i.d. set includes a soft smoothing brush, a large round brush, the new Conical Barrel, Dryer + Flyaway attachment, and the Fast dryer. Extra attachments are currently priced at $49 - $99, depending on which one you’re after. We still don't know how much the new attachments will cost, but we expect them to be on par with the current pricing. Plus all these attachments are interchangeable between Airwrap devices, so you won't necessarily need the latest styler to take advantage of the new attachments.

Airwrap i.d. officially went on sale in Australia on September 17th, and is available directly from Dyson in it's holiday colourway, Strawberry Bronze and Blush Pink.
