The Stirling Premium Espresso machine is a step up from the usual Aldi coffee machines, but customers have been having issues with the in-built grinder for years.

Going as far back as 2022, customers on the official Stirling site have complained that the grinder has either stopped working shortly after purchase, or never worked, with many opting to return the machine. To Stirling’s credit, the Premium Espresso machine comes with a three year warranty through Aldi’s Special Buys, and the support staff have followed up with every unhappy reviewer on the site.

For those who can best the grinder, the Premium Espresso Machine offers suitably premium options for a relatively low $399 price. The grinder in question has a 250g hopper with a conical burr grinder with 15 grind settings. This is lower than the best coffee machines we have tested, but still provides a range of grind sizes to suit your tastes. It has 9 BAR pressure which is right in the middle of the 7-11 units that are necessary to create a rich espresso with a nice crema.

While brewing temperature isn’t granular, there are low, medium, and high options, alongside water hardness settings, descaling alerts, and automated self-cleaning. The machine is operated using a black and white LCD display, four control buttons, and one integrated knob. Accessories like a portafilter, tamper, and a stainless steel milk jug are also included.

Limited stock of the device will be available across Aldi stores on October 12, 2024.
