Earlier this year I warned shoppers against buying Aldi's Premium Stick Vacuum Cleaner, and I'm here to do it again. On September 7th Aldi will roll out its spring cleaning range including a robot vacuum, and a no-name stick vacuum cleaner. The 2-in-1 Cordless Stick Vacuum listing comes with no specs which doesn't show much faith in the product.

Aldi's product descriptions are always quite bareboned, but this one takes it to a new extreme. The retailer doesn't offer up a single spec for this stick vacuum. No suction power, no battery life, no canister volume. Just that it has two operating speeds, converts to a hand-held vacuum, and has a washable HEPA filter.

Specs are usually pretty sparse when it comes to cheap stick vacuum cleaners, but even the likes of Kmart and Big W give you some basics to work with. In June Aldi's Premium Handheld which was $39 more expensive boasted a runtime of 10-25 minutes, and a whopping 82dB operating noise level. This battery life still stands as the worst we have seen, even compared to tiny handhelds like Acerpure's mini vacuum the Clean Lite.

Considering that the latest Aldi 2-in-1 vacuum doesn't even offer up these specs, and is just $99 rather than $139, it is probably even worse.

On the flip side, if you're looking for a hard floor washer Aldi is also offering the Tineco GO. Tineco - which is owned by the robot vacuum cleaner giant Ecovacs - has a solid reputation when it comes to hard floor cleaners. We reviewed the S7 Steam, which is a much fancier floor cleaner, but it set a high standard.

This fancy mop cleans and vacuums simultaneously, and should work well against a range of messes if other Tineco products are anything to go by. It includes self-cleaning and drying at the charging dock, and the microfibre roller slides out easily for any additional cleaning you might want to do. It does have a relatively small water tank of just 0.5L, and a shorter battery capacity of 25 minutes when compared to other hard floor cleaners. This is currently an Aldi exclusive in Australia, and will set you back $249 during the September 7th Special Buys sale.

Stick vacuum cleaners compared

Dyson is obviously a big player, but there are a bunch of other stick vacuum cleaner manufacturers available in Australia. We review products across Samsung, Dyson, Hoover, Acerpure, and well anyone else you can stick a vacuum at. Below we compare the main features of the top performers in the cordless vacuum space.
