Mmm, purple.
Apple announces new purple colour for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini
With all the rumours swirling around in the leadup to Apple's April event, not one seemed to indicate any iPhone announcements (except for maybe iOS 14.5). After all, the device is now halfway through its update cycle (to the date, in fact), so when they unveiled a new colour for the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini, we were understandably a little perplexed. Or should I say purplexed? (I'm so sorry).
Terrible pun aside, the new shade appears to be similar to that of the purple iPhone 11, with a chic lavender finish joining the already existing colour lineup of black, white, blue, green and red. The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, on the other hand, come in a more professional-looking graphite, gold, silver or navy blue finish.
Under the hood, it's still the same as every other iPhone 12, albeit with one slight difference - it will launch with iOS 14.5. Of course, this isn't a huge selling point, since the update will roll out to most iPhone users on April 26. Really, the only reason to buy the purple iPhone 12 is if you really, really like purple. It's available for preorder (at $1,199 for the Mini and $1,349 for the standard iPhone 12) as of 10:00 pm on Friday, April 23 and will ship out from Friday, April 30.
