When you fork out $1,199+ on a brand-spankin’ new iPhone 12, it stands to reason that you’re going to want to keep it looking that way for as long as possible. Even though Apple has upped the durability of the latest iPhone lineup with ‘aerospace-grade’ aluminium body and a Ceramic Shield front cover (designed to make the screen four times less likely to crack), a phone case is still an essential purchase.

So, whether your biggest concern is budget, style or durability, we’ve got every angle covered with the best iPhone 12 cases currently on the market. As more become available, we’ll update this page so you can ensure you’re getting the very best.

Best budget iPhone 12 case

Spigen Liquid Crystal slim case

If you want solid protection that won’t set you back even further after the massive purchase that is the iPhone 12, South Korean manufacturer Spigen has a range of minimalistic, clear, flexible TPU cases that’ll show off every angle of your new toy. There’s also a clear glitter and rose quartz glitter variant if you’re vibing a bit of extra bling.

The cases are shock absorbent, grip-friendly and won’t interfere with charging (wired or otherwise) or button usage. They’re compatible with the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12/Pro (both share the same dimensions) and the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and best of all, you can grab one for under $20.

Best iPhone 12 wallet case

Cygnett CitiWallet leather wallet case

With Apple Pay (and the Digital Driver’s License, if you live in NSW), you don’t really need a big wallet these days, right? At least, that’s what the Cygnet CitiWallet believes, and it’s aiming to replace your bursting-at-the-seams wallet with a compact all-in-one phone case.

Made from a shock-absorbent TPU frame, microfibre lining and a black leather folio, the CitiWallet has space for three cards and some notes to boot. It also functions as a stand for easy binge-watching and allows for wireless charging.

At just under $70, it’s not the cheapest case out there, but it’s also one of the best quality leather covers you can get under $100.

OtterBox Defender Series

OtterBox is pretty much synonymous with ‘unbreakable’ when it comes to phone cases. A favourite of tradies everywhere, the OtterBox Defender Series boasts ‘DROP+’ technology, which supposedly allows for four times as many drops as ‘military standard’. We weren’t aware dropping phones was a typical military exercise, but hey, it sounds impressive.

These rugged cases aren’t exactly the most stylish we’ve ever seen, but you’d be hard-pressed to find better protection for your new purchase. The Defender Series is also wireless charging-compatible and features a holster that can function as a belt-clip or kickstand.

The case will set you back a hefty $99.95 (less if you do some research), but for those in physical jobs, it’s an investment worth making.

Best personalised iPhone 12 case

CASETiFY Custom case

Personalised iPhone cases have become ridiculously popular over the last few years, and CASETiFY has it down to a science. They have tons of cool non-customisable designs available, but we love the ability to mix and match colours with short custom text - think names, initials, dates, weird inside jokes between you and your mates… the possibilities are endless.

At the time of writing, there are four case styles available for the iPhone 12, Mini, Pro and Pro Max: the Impact Case (lightweight, high protection), the Ultra Impact Case (mid-weight, ultra protection), the Essential Case (mid-weight, basic protection) and the Mirror Case (mid-weight, basic protection).

Prices start from $60 for the iPhone 12 Mini, $75 for the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro and $82 for the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Best iPhone 12 case for gaming

Razer Arctech Pro case

The iPhone 12 is a powerful device, and that means you’ll be able to comfortably play PUBG Mobile, Fortnite, Pokemon Go and Genshin Impact without processor lag dragging down your game sesh. But even the most advanced phone in the world isn’t immune to overheating with heavy use.

That’s where gaming accessory company Razer’s Arctech Pro iPhone 12 case comes in. It boasts three layers of cooling technology to prevent CPU shut down, plus the usual drop protection you’d expect to find in any good case. No word yet on whether or not it’s capable with the iPhone 12’s wireless charging, but we’ll update this as soon as we hear.

You can grab the Arctech Pro for $69.95 directly from the Razer website.
