Samsung has officially flipped the lid on its 2022 suite of foldable phones (and a new watch!), revealing the anticipitated Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the more compact fan-favourite Galaxy Z Flip 4.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 offers a very slight upgrade to the Z Flip 3 but it's still a compelling choice for Australians heading into the fold with Samsung's flippy-flappy phones.

What's new in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a fairly modest upgrade to the previous generation. There's an almost identical 6.7-inch display and just as many megapixels or an improved optical zoom in the dual-lens shooter (12MP + 12MP ultrawide) but Samsung suggests a larger image sensor in the Z Flip 4 will improve the results of low-light photography.

Besides that, there are a few small design updates (like frosted glass on the rear and steel frame) and a larger 3,700mAh battery that now supports 25W fast-charging.

When does the Galaxy Z Flip release in Australia?

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 goes on sale Friday the 2nd of September 2022 with preorders available from the 11th of August.

Both of Samsung's new foldable smartphones— the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4— will hit Australia shelves on Friday, the 2nd of September. Australians who can’t wait to get their hands on either handset have until Thursday the 1st of September 2022 to get their pre-order in and take advantage of some of the appealing pre-order deals.

From the 2nd of September onwards, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will be available through all the usual retail partners or on a plan through Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.
