Six months after locking in its premium lineup with the new Galaxy S22, Samsung is flexing its foldable chops with the announcement of the Galaxy Z Flip 4. Now that we know all the juicy details about the design, specs and features of Samsung's fourth generation clamshell-style foldable, there's one question remaining.

How much will it cost to get one in Australia?

With inflation on the rise, the rumor mill was abuzz that Samsung's slickest set of compact clamshell-style smartphones yet would be more expensive. Thankfully, this year's Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 starts at the same price as the previous Galaxy Z Flip 3.

$1,499 is still a lot of money to spend on a brand new smartphone, but it's significantly less than the $2,199 RRP that the original Galaxy Z Flip commanded. That said, those looking at the 256GB version of the device are looking at slight price-hike of $50 compared to what they'd pay for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 at launch.

For reference, here's how much last year's Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 cost at launch:

  • Galaxy Z Flip3 (128GB): $1,499
  • Galaxy Z Flip3 (256GB): From $1,599

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 pre-order bonuses

Depending on who they go with, those who get in early when it comes to the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will secure a few extra freebies.

To start with, anyone who pre-orders this year's Galaxy Z Flip 4 will get bumped up a storage tier at no extra cost. This promotion comes courtesy of Samsung Australia, and it means you can get the 512GB version of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 for the price of the 256GB version, and so on. Depending on how much you're willing to fork out on the foldable in the first place, that works out to total savings of as much as $300.

Those who pre-order the Galaxy Z Flip 4 through Telstra will secure themselves a free Samsung Galaxy Watch 5. Alternatively, ordering a Galaxy Z Flip 4 through Optus gets you a free Galaxy A8 tablet (plus a 3-month connected devices plan with 5GB of data) and a six-month subscription to Optus Upgrade and Protect service.

Woolworths Mobile also has its own pre-order promotion in place, but taking advantage of it does mean giving up the free storage upgrade mentioned above. Instead, the green grocer-affiliated MVNO have a series of flat discounts in place for both the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. In addition, if you're already signed up with the provider, you'll also get a bonus $100 Wish gift card. A full rundown of Woolworth's pre-order pricing for both devices can be found below:

  • $240 off the Galaxy Z Flip 4 (128GB)
  • $350 off the Galaxy Z Flip 4 (256GB)
  • $440 off the Galaxy Z Flip 4 (512GB)
  • $350 off the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (256GB)
  • $550 off the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (512GB)

While Woolworths Mobile postpaid plans are no contract, the above discounts are broken into monthly deductions on the handset fees of the associated plan. This means that if you leave before fully paying off the device month-to-month, you will end up paying something a little closer to the full price.

Last but not least there’s Vodafone. This pre-order boasts the biggest numbers, but it’s got a few terms and conditions. Customers who pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 through the crimson carrier are eligible for an extra $500 of trade-in value.

It's all a little complicated, but the table below should help simplify things for those trying to work out which Galaxy Z Flip 4 pre-order deal is the best.
