Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 returns to the ultra-premium stylings of foldables past, but won't cost a cent more than the previous generation. Alongside the design, specs and features of the new device, we've now got a pretty good answer to the most important question of all.

How much will it cost to get your hands on a brand new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 in Australia?

While Samsung's flagship foldable is already one of the the most expensive smartphones you can buy, some speculated that this year's Galaxy Z Fold would be even more expensive than earlier efforts.

Thankfully, this year's Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 starts at the same price as the previous Galaxy Z Fold 3. $2,499 is a lot of money to spend on a brand new smartphone, but it's still less than the $2,999 RRP that the original Galaxy Z Fold commanded.

That, there is a catch here. If you're looking at the higher storage options, then the fourth-generation foldable does cost a bit more than its third-generation counterpart.

For reference, here's how much last year's Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 cost at launch:

  • Galaxy Z Fold3 (256GB) : $2,499
  • Galaxy Z Fold3 (512GB) : $2,649

Samsung's next foldable phones - the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 - will hit local shelves on September 2.

Aussies who can’t wait to get their hands on either the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 or Galaxy Z Fold 4 have until September 1st, 2022 to get their pre-order in.

From the following day onwards, both devices will go on-sale via retail and other channels.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 plans

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is far from affordable. If you'd prefer to pay things off over time, we don't blame you. Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Woolworths Mobile all offer the Galaxy Z Fold 4 on 24 and 36-month payment plans.

Each provider has their own perks and preorder incentives, so be sure to read up on them below before locking in your preorder.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 pre-order bonuses

Depending on who they go with, those who get in early when it comes to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will secure a few extra freebies. However, no matter which provider you choose when it comes your pre-order, Samsung Australia will bump your device up a tier when it comes to on-board storage.

If you pre-order to the 256GB version of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, you'll get the 512GB version instead, and so on. Depending on how much you're willing to spend, you could end up saving as much as $300 and end up with a lot more in extra gigabytes.

On top of this promotion, those who pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold 4 through Telstra will secure themselves a free Samsung Galaxy Watch 5. Ordering a Galaxy Z Fold 4 through Optus instead will earn you a free Galaxy A8 tablet (plus a three-month connected devices plan with 5GB of data) and six-month subscription to Optus Upgrade and Protect service.

Vodafone's pre-order promotion boasts the biggest numbers, but it’s got a few familiar terms and conditions. Customers who pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 through the crimson carrier are eligible for an extra $700 of trade-in value.

Woolworths Mobile also has its own pre-order promotion in place, but taking advantage of it does mean giving up the free storage upgrade mentioned above. Instead, the green grocer-affiliated MVNO have a series of flat discounts in place for both the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. In addition, if you're already signed up with the provider, you'll also get a bonus $100 Wish gift card. A full rundown of Woolworth's pre-order pricing for both devices can be found below:

  • $240 off the Galaxy Z Flip 4 (128GB)
  • $350 off the Galaxy Z Flip 4 (256GB)
  • $440 off the Galaxy Z Flip 4 (512GB)
  • $350 off the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (256GB)
  • $550 off the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (512GB)

While Woolworths Mobile postpaid plans are no contract, the above discounts are broken into monthly deductions on the handset fees of the associated plan. This means that if you leave before fully paying off the device month-to-month, you will end up paying something a little closer to the full price.

It's all a little complicated, but the table below should help simplify things for those trying to work out which Galaxy Z Fold 4 pre-order deal is the best.
