Apple will release the first round of Apple Intelligence features next week. While Australia's official localised version of Apple Intelligence is still slated to drop in December, users in Australia can access Apple Intelligence features with a few settings on their phones.

Which devices can access Apple Intelligence?

According to Apple, the first round of Apple Intelligence features will be rolled out with iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1. All of these updates are set to drop for US English next week, though no official word has been offered on what day the updates can be expected.

While the official Australian English release of iOS 18.1 won't be available until December, users in Australia can still access the update by changing a few settings on their devices.

How to access Apple Intelligence features next week

To get access to the features, your device needs to be set for US English in the General Settings and the settings for Siri.

On an iPhone, you can do this by heading to Settings > General > Language & Region, and then changing the preferred language to "English (US)".

After doing this, head to Siri settings and change the language to US English.

Which Apple Intelligence features will be available?

The first round of Apple Intelligence features to be released include a redesigned Siri experience, notification summaries as well as systemwide writing tools that can help compose, proofread and revise emails, documents, texts or notes. Users will also get access to features in Mail that will move priority messages to the top of the email pile, summarise email chains and offer options for smart replies.

Also included in the update are new photo features, including natural language search for finding photos, and Clean Up, which can remove people or objects from the background of photos.

Next round of Apple Intelligence features available in beta

In addition to releasing the iOS 18.1 update next week, Apple made the developer betas of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2 available yesterday in the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.
