What is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day started in the US back in 2015, touted as a sales event to rival the likes of Black Friday. It’s open to all Amazon Prime members and covers everything from Amazon products to the latest tech, books, games and more.
The first Prime Day hit Aussie shores in 2018 and offered 36 hours of offers. In 2019, Amazon went one better with a staggering 65-hour sale event, and in 2020, they’re set to top it once more with 66 hours of non-stop deals. If you’re keen to take part this year, it’s worth bookmarking Amazon’s dedicated Prime Day hub.
Amazon Prime is the retail giant’s subscription service that offers fast, free shipping, access to Amazon Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading and Prime Photos. You’ll also get a free subscription each month for your favourite Twitch streamer. Membership will set you back just $9.99 per month or $79 for the whole year, and there’s a 30-day free trial so you can try before you buy.
When is Amazon Prime Day?
In 2022, Prime Day takes place over the 12th and 13th of July in Australia. If you wanted to nab some of the first deals, you would have needed to stay up late, because the first offers went live at 12:00am on Tuesday, the 12th of July. You've now got until midnight Wednesday, the 13th of July to scoop a bargain or two.
That said, there are some deals that will continue on for a day or two after the event officially ends. So if you think you've missed out, be sure to check back and see if your desired item isn't on sale.
