Originally rumoured to appear at the iPhone 16 event, Apple has finally announced a new iPad mini for 2024. Starting at $799, the new iPad mini is packing an A17 Pro chip (same as the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max) and will introduce Apple Intelligence and Apple Pencil Pro support to the tiny tablet.
The A17 Pro Chip of the new iPad mini not only enables the tablet to use Apple Intelligence and the revamped Siri (arriving in December) but it also allows you to play the AAA games ported to the App Store over the last year; games like Death Stranding, Assassin's Creed Mirage and Resident Evil 4 Remake. It's not as powerful as the A18 chip in the iPhone 16 but it's close. The 8.3-inch display also doesn't have the 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate of the iPad and iPhone Pro models.
Apple's new iPad mini also sports improved Smart HDR 4 in the 12MP rear camera and faster WiFi 6E speeds.
The seventh generation iPad mini has been three years in the making but it will officially go on sale on the 23rd of October. Pre-orders are available now.
