Qantas is among the first slew of airlines to take advantage of the new Find My sharing option.

As part of the latest iOS 18 update, 18.2 which is currently in beta, you'll be able to temporarily share an AirTag's location with someone outside of the Apple ecosystem, and outside your contacts. Apple noted this feature was created to help your find your item through a third party.

Over night Apple released more information about the feature noting that over 15 airlines will pick up the feature over "the coming months".

"In the coming months, more than 15 airlines serving millions of people globally — including Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Eurowings, Iberia, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Turkish Airlines, United, Virgin Atlantic, and Vueling — will begin accepting Find My item locations as part of their customer service process for locating mishandled or delayed bags. More airlines will be added over time."

Apple is working with partner airlines to ensure the privacy and security of users throughout this process. Access to the Find My link will be limited to a handful of people, the link will need to be authorised by the owner of the lost item through their Apple account, and will only last a week.
