Not making a Ned Flanders joke this time.
You can now order the Nothing Ear 2 in Australia now
Nothing today announced the Ear 2, its second-generation in-ear headphones, and Australians are able to order them from today. The Ear 2 will set you back $219, which is what the first-generation Ear 1 now sell for, and are available to order locally direct from Nothing.
The Ear 2 maintain the nostalgia-inducing design from the Ear 1, but refine the core functionality. To start, Nothing says the Ear 2 offer more reliable connectivity than their predecessors. Connectivity issues were our main qualm when testing the Ear 1, and to address this, Nothing has moved the antennas to the bottom of the earbud stems to help avoid interference, as well as increasing their size.
On the sound front, the Ear 2 now support high resolution audio, and personalised sound profiles via an in-app hearing test. Nothing also says voice quality on phone calls and noise cancellation have both been improved.
Design-wise, the Ear 2 maintain the same transparent design as the Ear 1, but with clearer plastic and a smaller case. The Ear 2 earbuds are rating IP54 for water resistance, while the case has an IP55 rating.
In terms of battery, you can expect up to 4 hours of audio playback with noise cancelling on, or 6.3 hours with it off. With the charging case, you'll get up to 22.5 hours with noise cancelling on, or 36 hours with it off. The case also supports wireless charging.
The Nothing Ear 2 are available from today. We'll have a full review soon.
