Samsung rounds out its roster with two OLED TVs

More like Ooh-LED.

Samsung has made a last-minute addition to its 2023 TV lineup, announcing local availability for two new OLED 4K TVs.

Compared to last year's models, this year's OLED TVs are said to be around 30% brighter. Under the hood, both models are powered by the same Neural Quantum processor found in Samsung's latest Neo QLED TVs and the same Smart Hub interface. The amount of shared DNA here isn't surprising, but it should help draw attention to the impact that an OLED panel has on overall the picture quality and viewing experience.

The more affordable of the two OLED models being ranged this year is the new Samsung OLED 4K S90C. The price for this one starts at $3829 for the 55-inch model. In addition to the aforementioned, you also get Dolby Atmos and Object Tracking Sound Lite audio, a solar-powered remote and a slim stand design.

Meanwhile, the pricier S95C ups the ante with the thin bezels of an Infinity Display design, the convenient cabling of the Samsung One Connect Box and the upgraded acoustics of Samsung's more advanced Object Tracking Sound+ feature.

In either case, the biggest drawcard is going to be the high contrast and vivid fidelity that OLED is known for. Of course, it's worth noting that this particular display technology isn't going to suit every environment. While the increase in brightness might help, it's telling that Samsung isn't positioning them at the top of their lavish lineup writ large.

Instead, Samsung is framing its OLED offering as an alternative for those who have the right low-light setup for the technology to perform at its best. Essentially, OLED is for dedicated home theatre environments or bedrooms while QLED is for the living room.
