Eufy Cameras Review

Eufy has a bunch of different home security cameras on offer, but they all have some top-notch features in common:

• They offer both local and cloud storage options
• They use bank-grade, 256-bit encrypted connections to keep your footage secure
• They don’t require monthly subscription fees

We also like that Eufy cameras are easy to set up, and most of them come with high-quality 2K video resolution. If you want a wire-free camera for your backyard or a pan-and-tilt camera to keep an eye on your new kitten, then Eufy has something for you.

Eufy has a whole roster of different cameras, but there are two main types: battery-powered outdoor cameras and plug-in indoor cameras.

The battery-powered, wire-free outdoor cameras all look pretty similar, so you might wonder what the difference is. The answer? Not much. They all work alike and have similar features. The main differences are price, device size, and battery life.

As for Eufy’s indoor cameras, you have a choice between a small, stationary camera and one that can pan and tilt to see around an entire room. Both are excellent choices; just pick the one that suits your needs.

One thing all the Eufy cameras have in common is their decently long battery lives. The EufyCam 2C has a 180-day battery life, and the EufyCam E and Eufy Cam 2 lasts an impressive 365-days on a single charge.

Keep in mind that none of Eufy’s cameras have removable battery packs, so you have to take the whole camera down to charge it. You also can’t replace the batteries if they wear out without chucking the whole camera.

Both of Eufy’s indoor camera models have 2K video resolution. That’s higher than the standard 1080p HD, but lower than the almighty, good-enough-to-see-through-time-and-space 4K resolution.

The difference between 1080p and 2K isn’t huge—both of them will give you good enough quality to see the details of people’s faces and read signs or license plates within about 30 feet. But there is a noticeable quality boost from the 2K upgrade, which is always nice to have.

Then there’s the Eufy doorbell.

If you don’t have existing doorbell wiring, or just prefer a battery model, then the Eufy Video Doorbell is a great choice. It comes in both battery-powered and hardwired models. And like the indoor cameras, the Eufy Video Doorbell comes in up to 2K resolution, which is higher image quality than we usually see from a doorbell camera.

The EufyCam 2 Pro has Eufy’s longest battery life, with 365 days’ worth of charge. Keep in mind that that timeframe is an estimate, and you may have to charge it more frequently if you use the top settings and put it in a high-traffic area.

The only real difference between the EufyCam 2 Pro and the regular EufyCam 2 is that the Pro has 2K resolution instead of 1080p. And the 2K resolution on this camera can be a bit finicky, so if you want to save some cash, the non-pro EufyCam 2 is a good alternative.

Not a lot of video doorbells have 2K resolution, but the Eufy Video Doorbell raises the bar. This doorbell camera lets you talk to visitors on your porch and watch packages arrive in crystal-clear visual detail.

If you don’t care about 2K resolution, the Eufy Video Doorbell also comes in a 1080p version, which costs a fair bit less than the 2K model. And with either 2K or 1080p, you can choose from a hardwired or battery-powered model.

Go with a battery-powered doorbell cam if you don’t have existing doorbell wiring or you’re a renter who can’t modify the property. Otherwise, we recommend hardwired for the most reliable connection that you never have to recharge.

The Eufy Floodlight Camera combines a high-resolution security camera with a super-bright outdoor security light and a complete 360° view.

Motion-activated floodlights are some of the most basic security devices you can use to protect your home. Eufy combines that motion-triggered floodlight with a camera, so you have a video recording of what (or who) just made your backyard light up.

It’s important to know for this camera/light combo that you need to have 110-240V outdoor wiring. The floodlight camera hardwires into your existing connection for power, which is convenient, but only if you already have the right fixture.

If you want an indoor camera for watching pets, your kids, or just your empty living room, then the Eufy Indoor Cam 2K is a good choice. Like some of Eufy’s other cameras, this little cam has 2K resolution for high-quality videos of your new puppy playing.

The Eufy Indoor Cam also comes in a pan and tilt version. You’ll save some money that way, but only about $7. And this camera is affordable to begin with, so we recommend the pan and tilt version if you can swing it.

Like all of Eufy’s other cameras, this little cam has both cloud and local storage options. But unlike the battery-powered outdoor cameras, you don’t need a Eufy HomeBase hub for it to work. You can just plug a microSD card into the camera itself. Voilà.

The EufyCam 2C Pro is a smaller, taller version of the EufyCam 2 Pro. This camera uses the same Eufy HomeBase 2 hub as the EufyCam 2 models to connect to your Wi-Fi and store local footage, but the 2C Pro is smaller, which makes it easier to set on a shelf or fence ledge.

Eufy’s 2C cameras also include built-in, motion-activated spotlights so you can see better in the dark than with night vision alone.

If you want to watch a whole area with just one camera, then the Eufy Indoor Cam Pan & Tilt can help you out. This camera spins a full 360º and can tilt 96º vertically so you can scan an entire area from the ceiling to the floor.

The Eufy Indoor Cam Pan & Tilt also has that ultra-clear 2K resolution. But if you want to save some cash, you can opt for a 1080p version.

The EufyCam 2 is basically the same as the EufyCam 2 Pro but without the 2K video resolution. This camera records in 1080p, which is still high-definition video. And like the Pro version, the EufyCam 2 has a 365-day battery life (depending on how much you use it).

This camera isn’t very good at telling the difference between people and cars at nighttime, and you can’t restrict alerts to “only humans” when night vision is on. But on the whole, it’s still a good little camera.

The EufyCam 2C is just like the EufyCam 2C Pro: it’s small, wire-free, can use local or cloud storage, and has a built-in spotlight for extra security. The only difference is that the 2C Pro has 2K resolution, whereas the regular EufyCam 2C records in 1080p resolution instead.

2K resolution gives you a visible upgrade in video quality, but it’s not life-changing. 1080p resolution will still work just fine for most people, so if you can find the EufyCam 2C for a big discount over the 2C Pro, we still recommend it.

The EufyCam E is cheaper than Eufy’s Pro 2 or 2C Pro camera models, but you get a lot of the same features. This camera is wire-free, has a long 365-day battery life, and comes with a 16 GB microSD card in the Eufy HomeBase E for secure local storage.

The biggest difference between the EufyCam E and other Eufy cameras is that this one uses a different hub: the HomeBase E instead of the HomeBase 2. So if you start with a EufyCam E and then want to add in, say, a Pro 2 down the line, the Pro 2’s not going to work with your HomeBase.

The EufyCam E does work with the HomeBase 2, though, so if you already have a different Eufy cam, then you should be able to add the EufyCam E to your existing system.

All of Eufy’s cameras come with some top-notch features, especially for the price point. They all have local storage options and bank-grade encryption to protect your videos. And almost all of Eufy’s camera lines have a 2K version for high-quality footage.

If you want all the cameras in your house to be from the same brand, then Eufy is a good choice.

EufyCam 2 Pro: Of all of Eufy’s wire-free cameras, the EufyCam Pro 2 has the longest battery life with the highest video resolution. This camera is a piece of cake to set up, and you won’t have to charge it every other month.

Eufy Video Doorbell: Eufy’s Video Doorbell comes in wired and battery-powered versions, as well as 2K and 1080p versions. You can choose the model that suits your needs, whether you want to replace an existing doorbell or you just want to avoid messing with electrical wires.

Eufy Floodlight Camera: Eufy’s Floodlight Camera combines a 360° view, high-definition camera with a motion-activated security light. Just check that you have the right outdoor wiring for this device before you buy it.

Eufy Cam Indoor: The Eufy Cam Indoor is a light little security camera you can use to watch kids, pets, or anything in between. It comes in both 2K and 1080p versions, and it doesn’t require a Eufy hub to work.
