Bluepeak Internet has some killer internet plans, but as a small provider, it falls behind in reliability and customer service.
Bluepeak Internet Review: Customers Call It “Full of Potential”
Traditionally, fiber internet is available mainly in big cities, but Bluepeak Internet is out to correct that. Bluepeak offers residential fiber internet services in parts of Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Oklahoma where you otherwise would have to settle for costly internet from Starlink or limited options from a different rural internet provider.
"What I like about Bluepeak is their commitment to expanding fiber coverage in underserved areas," says Bluepeak fiber customer Ben McInerney.
Bluepeak offers off-the-charts value on its fiber internet plans, with high speeds and excellent perks at reasonably low prices. But it's still a tiny service compared to its competitors, and its small infrastructure may make it less reliable for some customers.

Get to know Bluepeak Internet: Plans and pricing
Bluepeak Internet not only offers fiber internet but also goes the extra step of offering extremely cost-effective internet. You can get 1,000Mbps for just $55 a month, 2,000Mbps for $70, and 5,000Mbps for $100. All of these plan prices include unlimited data, taxes and fees, and installation and equipment costs. (In this case, the equipment includes both a modem and an Eero 6+ Wi-Fi router.)
With 1 Gig and 2 Gig plans, you can also pay $10 more a month for three years of Bluepeak's Service and Price Protection. This is a price lock and warranty rolled into one—it keeps your rate steady for three years while also giving you free service calls and equipment repairs and replacements. (If you have a 5 Gig plan, you automatically get three years of Service and Price Protection, but you can pay $10 a month to extend it to five years.)
You even get a $10-a-month streaming service credit with the 5 Gig plan.
Which Bluepeak plan is right for you?
We recommend the 1 Gig plan to pretty much everyone. Unless your basement houses a secret computer lab with dozens of employees, 1,000Mbps will cover your home internet needs and then some. And at $55 a month, that’s a super steal even before the freebies.
Bluepeak has no equipment rental or modem installation fees.
What makes this Bluepeak review legit?
Our fact-based research process centers on interviews with internet customers across the country, helping us understand how internet services hold up against diverse needs and challenges.
To put together this review, we read Bluepeak’s website from top to bottom, combed through FCC availability maps, pored over r/Internet, and spent a grand total of six weeks looking for Bluepeak customers to speak with.
The rundown: Bluepeak Internet by our criteria
For all our internet reviews, we give a rating based on three main criteria—speed and reliability, dollar value, and customer experience—which we then average to make an overall score.

Speed and reliability
Bluepeak Internet users have yet to take the Reviews.org speed test (although you could be the lucky first), so we don't possess data about Bluepeak's actual speeds. But its advertised speeds are fast—maybe too fast.
My colleagues and I usually suggest 100–500Mbps for household internet. A whole gig of internet is the equivalent of buying a Costco pack of perishable goods: You feel smug that you have so much, but when you think about it, it's way more than you can ever consume. Still, better too much than too little.
Meanwhile, Bluepeak's reliability doesn't quite match its speed. Two customers painted vastly different pictures of the service's stability.
Senior software developer and Bluepeak customer Paniyot Kalinav finds his Texan Bluepeak service extraordinarily reliable. "What I like most about Bluepeak is its consistency," says Kalinav. "Whether I'm pushing large updates to a server or testing our website's performance under different network conditions, I haven't had to worry about slowdowns. The latency is low, and the connection feels solid throughout the day."
On the other hand, Ben McInerney finds Bluepeak inconsistent and slow to restart. "We've had instances where outages lasted longer than a redwood's lifespan, it seemed," says McInerney, an arborist in Long Beach who's chock full of tree metaphors.
Dollar value
Bluepeak offers incredible value—some of the best I've seen. Each plan provides symmetrical fiber speeds, meaning you get an almost excessively fast upload speed along with a swift download speed. Unlimited data comes with every plan, too. A reasonable flat monthly fee covers installation and equipment, and you can pay a little extra to add a price-lock guarantee, a Holy Grail among internet provider perks.
“I don’t have to worry about hidden fees popping up,” says Kalinav. “I could see someone finding [Bluepeak] a bit pricey if they’re just looking for basic service, but for someone like me who relies on high-speed internet for work, it’s worth the cost.”
Customer experience
As a small provider, Bluepeak isn’t featured in major customer service surveys, but I heard mixed feedback from customers.
Kalinav says he mostly has a good experience with reaching out to Bluepeak. “Customer service has been a positive experience overall. I’ve only reached out a couple of times, mostly for setup questions and a minor billing issue when I upgraded my plan,” he recalls. “Each time, the support team was quick to respond, friendly, and actually seemed to know what they were talking about—a big plus in my book.”
But McInerney’s encounters have been less consistent. “Their customer service can be as unpredictable as California weather,” he says.
How long it took to get a real human on the phone: It took 30 seconds to reach someone, but that was on the sales line. I was routed off the customer service path due to not having a Bluepeak account number.
How the chat service is: There’s no official chat service, although existing customers can text the customer service number as well as call.
Overall quality
Bluepeak's plans pack a punch. The monthly lump sum covers everything you could want from an internet service provider (and more!): Fast speeds, unlimited data, equipment costs, installation costs, taxes …
But Bluepeak falls short in other areas. Its dependability is so-so, and so is its customer service. For some folks, the fantastic deal makes up for these failings—but for others, it doesn't. Which category you fall in depends on your circumstances.
Suppose you primarily need internet service for gaming, streaming, or personal projects. In that case, the likelihood of it going out (and staying out while you wrangle customer service) may not bother you so much. However, outages become more significant if you work from home or take online classes.

What do customers think of Bluepeak Internet?
Bluepeak customers who spoke with me were mostly positive about the service.
“Bluepeak is a solid choice if you need a fast and reliable connection for both work and play, and you don’t want to worry about dropouts or surprise costs. It’s not perfect, but for me, it’s the best option I’ve found so far,” says Paniyot Kalinav.
“As someone who works with nature, I appreciate their efforts to minimize environmental impact during installations,” says Ben McInerney, who uses Bluepeak’s business fiber for his California business.
But that appreciation doesn’t necessarily translate into business loyalty. “If another provider offered comparable speeds with more reliable service, I'd switch faster than a woodpecker on espresso,” admits McInerney. “Our business depends on constant connectivity to match arborists with clients.”
Kalimav also feels the service has some bugs, although his issues are far rarer than McInerney's. "There have been a few instances where the upload speed dropped slightly during peak hours. It's not a dealbreaker for me since I've never lost connection entirely, but I do notice it when I'm running a heavy load."

Where is Bluepeak Internet available?
Bluepeak wants to bring fiber connectivity outside of big cities; however, it’s barely scratched the surface. Bluepeak fiber is only available in Minnesota, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
Bluepeak was previously known as Vast Broadband, a somewhat ironic name given its limited service area.
Bluepeak also offers business fiber internet in some additional states, so if you have a burgeoning young business, that might be something to pursue.
Bluepeak Internet vs. the competition
Bluepeak Internet's value proposition is off the charts compared to the competition. It's cheaper than Google Fiber, fiber's biggest cheese, but with more perks and fees.
But Bluepeak falls short in two main categories: Availability and reliability. It's absent in most cities and states and can't promise the consistent service that some big names offer. That means it's not a viable competitor to most major fiber or even cable services (yet).
