Frontier offers its fast 200Mbps fiber internet with unlimited data for only $29.99 per month. To top it off, all Frontier customers get an eero router rental included in their plan and free installation.

Frontier is a rare gem. Its introductory prices are steeply discounted, and apart from the early cancellation fee, there aren’t random hidden fees waiting to surprise you when you get your first bill. Customers I’ve interviewed gush about their experience, with one even uttering the word, love, when referring to the provider. Sure, customer service has its snags, but otherwise, customers say they’re happy with the cost, speed, and reliability of the provider.

Keep reading to find out how Frontier’s cheapest plan is one of the best value deals in the biz.

Frontier’s cheapest internet plan: Fiber 200

Fiber 200$29.99/mo. for 12 mos.*Up to 200 MbpsUnlimited

Frontier’s cheapest internet plan is the Fiber 200 plan. The Fiber 200 plan costs $29.99 per month and is $15 to $270 cheaper than all of Frontier’s other plans. Even though the plan goes up by $10 per month after the first year of service, the Fiber 200 plan is still a great deal for a few people. It comes with several perks, including unlimited data, free eero 6+ router rental, and free installation.

The only thing you need to watch out for is the prorated early termination fee, which is $100 or less depending on how many months you have remaining on the plan.

“To me, the price is fair," says Sherwin Kamyab, a Frontier customer I interviewed who couldn’t be happier with his service. "Even with the storms, no hiccups.”

In some areas, Frontier offers its Fiber 500 plan for the same price as the Fiber 200 plan, but you need to check your address to see if that promo deal is available for you.

Do Frontier’s internet prices go up after the first 12 months?

Yes, Frontier’s internet prices go up after the first 12 months by $5 to $10 per month, depending on your plan and the area.

Does Frontier have no-contract internet?

No, Frontier doesn’t have no-contract internet until you’ve been a customer for a full year. If you decide to cancel before 12 months of being a customer, you pay a $100 fee (up to $200 for the Fiber 2 Gig plan) that is prorated depending on the months left on your contract.

Frontier’s best internet deals

The best deals are the ones you don’t have to do anything to get. So although it’s not an exclusive promotion, Frontier’s free Amazon eero router rental is the best deal–and every Frontier customer gets it under their seat (cue Oprah). The eero is a clever router device that works with Alexa, Thread, Matter-compatible, and Zigbee products, so you can create the ultimate smart home setup. You can also connect to more eero devices to get reliable coverage throughout your home. Depending on your plan, you receive the eero most suited to your speed.

How does Frontier’s cheapest internet plan compare to other affordable internet plans?

Frontier’s Fiber 200 plan is one of the best internet plans you can get compared to other affordable cable or 5G plans. Fiber providers are the best overall because they get symmetrical speeds and are less prone to outages or slow-downs.

That said, if cost is your number one concern, you can’t beat Xfinity’s Internet Essentials plan with 50Mbps for only $9.95 per month. To get this plan, you need to be eligible for government subsidy programs such as the National School Lunch Program, Medicaid, or SNAP (or the now inactive Affordable Connectivity Program).

Otherwise, Xfinity’s Connect plan with 150Mbps can get as low as $20 per month on the West Coast. However, the Connect plan is $10 more expensive in other areas of the country, so it’s definitely worth your while getting Frontier if that’s the case.

Spectrum is a common cable provider available in areas where Frontier also serves.

Spectrum’s cheapest plan, Internet Premier, costs $50 per month for the first year, which is pricier than Frontier, but you get higher speeds up to 500Mbps. Spectrum’s 500Mbps plan isn’t necessarily more robust than the Fiber 200 plan because it uses a cable connection that can cut out more often and take its sweet time uploading any content. At that point, you should just go with Frontier’s Fiber 500 plan which costs $44.99 per month for 12 months.

All in all, it’s best to check what’s available in your area and look into each provider’s plans and prices. Type in your zip code below and see what providers you can get.

Other ways to save money with Frontier internet

While the Fiber 200 plan is fairly cheap on its own, there are a few more ways you can cut down costs even more.

  • Sign up for the Lifeline Support benefit: This federal program provides qualifying low-income households a discount of $9.25 off your monthly Frontier bill, or up to $34.25 per month if you live on Tribal lands.
  • Check prices in your area: Compare providers available in your neighborhood to see which offers the best price. This is great information you can put in your back pocket for negotiating or making the decision to switch providers.
  • Negotiate with Frontier: If you have any competing promotional offers from other providers, you can leverage this info for discounts, promo rates, or gift cards from Frontier’s retention department. No guarantees, but it never hurts to ask.

All of Frontier’s internet plans: Prices and speeds

Frontier offers a large selection of fiber plans, from 200Mbps up to 7Gbps symmetrical speed. Prices go from $29.99 per month with the Fiber 200 plan, to $299.99 per month for the 7 Gig plan (for the first 12 months). All plans get an Amazon eero router—you get a more advanced model the higher your speed is. We recommend any plan from the Fiber 200 to Fiber 1 Gig, depending on how large your household is. The Fiber 200 is great for one or two people, whereas the Fiber 500 or Fiber 1 Gig is better for larger households with heavy internet users.

How to pick the right Frontier internet plan for you

Signing up for a new internet provider can get confusing and time-consuming. Take the stress out of the research process by asking yourself these questions when you’re considering a Frontier internet plan.

  1. Does this fit into my budget? Often, a snazzy deal catches our attention, but there are additional fees and price increases that add up. Make sure to sift through the Broadband Facts label and call Frontier to double-check that you’re getting the best possible deal before jumping in.
  2. Do I need this speed?  Frontier offers gift cards for some of their higher-speed plans, but most households don’t need multi-gig speeds. Something between 200Mbps and 1,000Mbps should be plenty, even if you have a large household.
  3. Have I checked for deals? Internet companies always advertise new freebies, bundles, or discounts, which we list (and update regularly) on our Best Internet Deals page.
  4. Have I compared prices with other providers? The best way to pick the right plan is to know all your options. Check what providers are available in your area by typing in your zip code in the search bar below.
