Fios 300 Mbps Internet + Your Verizon Fios TV: Best budget plan

Verizon Fios Home Internet earned our Editor's Choice award, while Fios TV earned Best Value. That says you can't go wrong here.

Verizon’s least expensive TV plus internet plan is also its best value. The Your Fios TV plan ensures you get at least five of the channels you want without surprises or extra fees.

The way this works is you pick your five favorite TV channels and Verizon recommends a channel lineup for you based on your selections. And there’s no need to worry about picking big broadcast networks like ABC, CBS, or Univision since those are always included.

This bundle also comes with 300 Mbps download and upload speeds, which are spot-on for small- to medium-sized families who like to stream a little Disney+ while they game on the weekends.

Pros
  • Option to pick five favorite channels
  • Easy to switch plans
  • Enough downlaod speed for your average family to stream and game
Cons
  • Recommended channel line-ups may not include top sports or entertainment channels

Price

The price for Verizon’s Fios 300 Mbps Internet, bundled with Your Fios TV plan, keeps pace with similar combos, and it also comes with a feature or two that might make it a better deal.

First, there's no need to worry about early termination fees if you want to cancel your service because you’re not roped into an annual contract with this plan. Second, the ability to choose five of the channels you want and even swap them in and out every month is hard to beat.

This combo comes with a few extras, including the following:

  • Walmart+ subscription free for three months
  • A $50 and $200 Verizon Gift Card
  • Your $99 setup charge is waived if you order online

Internet speed

Those 300 Mbps internet download speeds are nothing to laugh at. While 300 Mbps doesn’t come near the top download speeds Verizon Fios Home Internet has to offer, it should keep a few adults or even a small family with some youngins connected.

We also love that Verizon’s internet is fiber. Fiber internet tends to be more reliable than DSL or cable, and that reliability shows in Verizon Fios Home Internet’s most recent Federal Communications Commission (FCC) report.

The FCC report states that Verizon Fios Home Internet’s actual download speeds divided by its advertised download speeds come out to 102.4%.1 That means you get faster download speeds than what you pay for.

What can you do with 300 Mbps?

  • Keep your home security system, smart TV, and other devices connected
  • A small or medium family can stream and game together
  • Stream in HD or even 4K, gasp!

Channels

We mentioned that Your Fios TV gives you a recommended channel list based on your five favorite channels. This is pretty epic—most of us have been asking for TV packages that aren’t chock full of channels we don’t watch for ages.

The best part of Your Fios TV is that if you decide to swap one of your five favorite channels out, you can do that each billing cycle. And hey, if you want to swap that old favorite channel back in a few months later, you can do that too. You just have to wait for the next billing cycle—and you can even schedule it.

Your Fios TV popular channels

Some of the most popular channels you can currently choose (as of March 2023) as your top five with Your Fios TV include the following. Keep in mind channel line-ups can change over time or might just be different in another area, so you may see a different line-up.

Verizon Fios 1 Gig + The Most Fios TV: Best for sports lovers

Extra sports channels, MGM+, and STARZ, plus über-fast internet? Sign us up.

If you live, eat, and breathe sports, then Verizon’s The Most Fios TV package is for you. It’s filled to the brim with sports channels like NBA TV, Golf Channel, and NFL Network.

And the Fios 1 Gig plan offers download speeds of up to 940 Mbps. That’s plenty of oomph to let you, your kiddos, your partner, and your whole extended family stream replays of all the action.

Though Verizon’s More Fios TV package also shows a lot of love to sports fans, you won’t find channels like the NFL RedZone, MLB Network, or NBA TV there. Plus, The Most Fios TV package hooks you up with premium channels like STARZ and MGM+. We feel loved.

Pros
  • Great sports channel coverage
  • Super-fast download speeds for streaming
  • STARZ and MGM+ included
Cons
  • High-ish price compared to some other providers

Price

At first glance, the price for Verizon’s Fios 1 Gig + The Most Fios TV combo might seem a bit high.

But keep in mind most other TV and internet combos out there won’t get you anywhere close to near gigabit speeds like Fios 1 Gig does. Or you might experience the opposite, where the internet download speeds are fast, but your TV channel line-up is cut in half.

Verizon’s plans also come with no annual contract, which means there’s one less thing to worry about if you move or can’t continue your service for some other reason. We like that.

If you're looking for extras that will sweeten this deal, look no further. Here's what you have to look forward to if you grab the Verizon Fios 1 Gig + The Most Fios TV combo:

  • Free Disney+ subscription
  • A $100 Verizon gift card
  • Your router, basic DVR, and first set-top box are all included
  • Your $99 setup charge is waived if you order online

Internet speed

Verizon’s top download speed of up to 940 Mbps may seem lackluster compared to other ISP’s 1,000 Mbps speeds, but truth be told, we think Verizon’s speeds are just as good if not better.

That’s because its fiber network was reported to deliver faster download speeds than it advertised, according to the FCC.1 It also comes with fast upload speeds of up to 880 Mbps, which makes uploading files a breeze. #Winning.

What can you do with up to 940 Mbps?

  • A large family and maybe even a few friends can stream to their heart’s content
  • You can host a media server and share family photos and videos
  • Your kiddo can become the next YouTube or Twitch star

Sports channels

Along with all your must-have news and entertainment channels like A&E, Discovery Channel, and Fox News, The Most Fios TV package comes with a ton of sports channels. That means you’ll easily get your football, golf, basketball, and baseball fix. (And if any of your games aren’t on the network, the up to 940 Mbps download speeds are great for streaming.)

This TV package also comes with a few add-on channels that you’d pay extra for otherwise: STARZ and MGM+. Jackpot.

Fios 500 Mbps Internet + Your Verizon Fios TV: Great for streaming shows

A middle-ground pick, the 500 Mbps download speeds are perfect for streaming shows while Your Fios TV lets you tune into the tube too.

If you’re looking for an in-between TV and internet bundle that’ll keep your family entertained, look no further than the Fios 500 Mbps Internet plus Your Fios TV package.

We mentioned it before, but we’ll say it again: We love how Verizon’s Your Fios TV plan lets you pick your five favorite channels and then recommends a channel line-up for you. And the 500 Mbps download speeds you get on top of that are perfect for streaming Netflix in the living room, Disney+ in the playroom, and Hulu in the kitchen.

Pros
  • Recommended channels based on your five favorites
  • Option to switch package once per billing cycle
  • Fast internet for streaming and gaming
Cons
  • Recommended channels may not include what you want

Price

This TV and internet combo comes with a pretty reasonable price tag. We usually see other providers charge about the same or more for similar internet speeds and channel counts—but those plans might also come with a contract. Verizon’s plans come with no annual contract.

Another thing to watch out for is promotional prices. Plans like Frontier’s Fiber Custom Essentials + Fiber Internet 500/500 start out lower than Verizon’s Fios 500 Mbps Internet + Your Fios TV combo, but that lower price lasts for only the first year of your two-year contract.

You likely won’t see much of a change in streaming or gaming performance with 400 Mbps internet download speeds versus 500 Mbps. (Unless you’re livestreaming or uploading large files on the regular, in which case we recommend Verizon’s Fios 1 Gig+ The Most Fios TV combo.) So paying extra for a little bit faster download speeds is probably not worth it.

Internet speed

Speaking of download internet speed, we’re impressed with Verizon’s. Thanks in part to its all-fiber network, the ISP scored well on the latest FCC report that compared internet providers’ actual download speeds to their advertised speeds.1

Verizon’s Fios 500 Mbps Home Internet plan also comes with symmetrical upload and download speeds. That means you’re able to upload videos, photos, PDFs, and anything else you want at 400 Mbps or thereabouts.

What can you do with 500 Mbps?

  • A medium- to large-sized family can stream the latest shows
  • Your kiddos can play a battle royale game with their besties
  • You can upload that PowerPoint presentation from your home office

Channels

The Your Fios TV plan's channel line-up depends wholly on which five channels you select as your favorites. Take a look at some of the most popular channels Your Fios TV has lined up right now.

Verizon Fios TV add-on and on-demand channels

No matter which Verizon Fios TV plan you choose, you can always treat yourself to an add-on channel or two. We’re talking MAX, Paramount+ with SHOWTIME®, and CINEMAX, plus STARZ, STARZ ENCORE, and MGM+.

The way Verizon charges for its add-on channels is a little different from most other providers we’ve seen. While other providers charge you a set price per month based on which channel you pick, Verizon cuts you a deal.

Verizon charges $15 to $40 extra per month (on top of your TV plan cost) depending on how many premium channels you add. So the more channels you add, the lower your price per channel is.

Verizon add-on channels

  • CINEMAX®
  • MGM+
  • MAX®
  • Paramount+ with SHOWTIME®®
  • STARZ®
  • MGM+

Verizon Fios TV add-on channel prices

  • 1 add-on channel: $15/mo. extra
  • 2 add-on channels: $25/mo. extra
  • 3 add-on channels: $30/mo. extra
  • 4–5 add-on channels: $40/mo. extra

Fios On Demand

Verizon Fios TV also comes with plenty of on-demand movies and TV shows. We're talking 170,000 or more titles—at least at the time we checked. Now that makes for some epic binge-watching.

We really like the Fios On Demand user interface because it has a really easy way to filter your search results to show only free shows and movies. Yup, you can avoid searching for the perfect show to watch and hearing the sad trombone when you find out it'll cost you something extra.

Plus, if you grabbed an add-on channel like HBO, you can surf through all the movies and TV shows you get with that premium channel subscription right there in the Fios On Demand interface. #Winning

Recap: Are Verizon TV + internet bundles good?

Verizon’s Mix & Match TV and internet bundles are great for budgeters, sports lovers, and video streamers. We like that it offers download speeds of 300 Mbps to up to 940 Mbps and channel counts of 125+ to a whopping 425+. On top of that, you’ve got six different premium channels you can add to your plan, plus thousands of on-demand titles to check out.

The star of the show is Verizon’s Your Fios TV plan. We definitely think this plan is worth checking out—it lets you pick your five favorite channels and then recommends a TV package based on what you like to watch.

  • Fios 300 Mbps Internet + Your Fios TV: Best for budgeters. If you’re looking for value, Your Fios TV recommends a channel line-up that focuses on your five favorite channels. And the 200 Mbps internet plan is perfect for a bit of streaming and gaming.
  • Fios 1 Gig + The Most Fios TV: Best sports coverage. If you want all the sports channels, The Most Fios TV has ‘em, from baseball to basketball, football to hockey. And if you can’t find your game on TV, the up to 940 Mbps internet ensures you can at least stream it.
  • Fios 500 Mbps Internet + Your Fios TV: Great for streaming shows. If you prefer streaming your latest binge-watching obsession but also like to check out what’s airing on the broadcast networks, this plan strikes the perfect balance.

Methodology

We evaluated and ranked cable TV and internet providers based on a few important things:

  • Bundled Prices: Checking out how much you get for the price when you combine services.
  • TV Channel Options: Looking into the variety of channels each provider offers.
  • Download Speeds: Assessing how fast their internet service is.
  • Data Caps: Making sure there are no sneaky limits on data usage.
  • Contract Terms: Checking for any weird or restrictive terms in their contracts.
  • Availability: Seeing where their services are actually available.

We believe the cost of bundles or package combinations should match what you're getting. With over 8 years of experience in this, we know that's a big deal.

Also, not everyone needs lightning-fast internet or a ton of channels. A good provider, in our view, gives you options. They should have different packages to fit different needs – whether you're a heavy internet user or just want a basic TV package. It's about giving people choices that suit them.
