So you’re looking to save a few bucks by switching to Xfinity Mobile? Good choice. Xfinity Mobile’s By the Gig and Unlimited Data plans are affordable ways to get premium cell phone service on the powerful Verizon Wireless network.

The question is, how do you actually sign up for Xfinity Mobile? The short answer is: existing Xfinity internet customers can easily sign up for Xfinity Mobile using the company’s website.

For those that want the longer answer, we’ll walk through all the steps here. But first thing’s first: you need to figure out if you’re even eligible for Xfinity Mobile.

Who is eligible for Xfinity Mobile?

This is pretty important: Xfinity Mobile is only available to current Xfinity internet customers. Seriously. No ifs, ands, or buts.

If you aren’t a current Xfinity customer then you can sign up and get a pretty sweet deal on your home internet and your cell phone plan. If you don’t want to sign up for Xfinity internet then you’ll have to look elsewhere for phone service (don’t worry, there are tons of awesome and affordable plans out there for you).

How to sign up for Xfinity Mobile

If you are an existing Xfinity customer then there are two main ways to sign up for Xfinity Mobile: in-store and online. We’ll run through both options.

Signing up for Xfinity Mobile in-store

Sometimes you just want to talk to someone face to face. We get it. If you want to go the old school route and sign up for Xfinity Mobile in person then you can just head into one of the many Xfinity brick-and-mortar locations around the country.

Of course, most of us would rather not run another errand if we don’t have to (especially during the COVID-19 pandemic). Luckily, you can sign up for Xfinity Mobile online. It’s easy. Here are the steps.

Sign up for Xfinity Mobile online

If you want to sign up for Xfinity Mobile online, the first step is to visit Xfinity’s website. There, you can log in to your Xfinity account and begin the process. It should only take you a few minutes to complete the steps, which we’ll walk through here.

The first step is choosing whether you want to buy a new phone or bring your current one.

Buying a new phone or bringing your own

If you decide to buy a new phone (Xfinity is offering some killer deals on new phones, by the way) then you can find the one you want on the company’s website.

If you’re having a hard time parting with that trusty iPhone 8, then you can bring it along with you. Luckily, the company’s website has a handy tool that can tell you whether or not an Xfinity Mobile SIM card will work on any given device.

Choose your plan

Now that you’ve figured out what phone you’re going to rock with your new Xfinity Mobile plan, it’s time to figure out how much data you want. There are two main options: by the gig or unlimited.

Xfinity Mobile Unlimited Data plan

The unlimited data plan is a great deal for those who use a ton of data. Those who use less data, or who need higher data speeds, will probably do better on the by-the-gig plan.

Order SIM card and activate device

Believe it or not, you’ve already finished the hard part of signing up for your Xfinity Mobile service. Now you just need to click your mouse a few times to finalize your order.

A few days after you place your online order you'll get your SIM card in the mail. Then you can use the Xfinity Mobile My Account site to choose which devices you’d like to activate. It should take just a few minutes to follow the online steps for activating your phone.

Once your device is activated you can insert your SIM card and get to texting, calling, browsing, gaming, TikToking, and all that other good stuff!

You should see a form in the device activation page. Use this form to transfer your old number to your Xfinity account.

That’s all there is to it. If you’ve followed these steps then you should be all signed up for Xfinity Mobile. We hope you enjoy it!

Saving money on your cell phone bill and more

You’ve already decided to save some dough by switching your phone service over to Comcast-owned Xfinity Mobile. But you may be able to save on your television and home security bills too.
